Education

Studied at Glasgow University. Theological Hall of United Presbyterian Church. Master of Arts (with 1st class honours in Philosophy).

Doctorate. Doctorate. 1885.

Minister of East Bank United Presbyterian Church, Hawick, 1874-1891. Examiner for Degrees lin Philosophy in Glasgow University. Visited America, and gave lectures on German Theology in Chicago, 1895.

Also gave lectures on the Eiliot and Morgan foundations at Allegheny and Auburn (New York) respectively, 1897, and on the Stone foundation at Princeton, 1903.

Took a leading part in the negotiations for union between the Free and United Presbyterian Churches. Master of Arts; Bachelor of Divinity.

Doctor of Divinity (Glasgow).

Career

Company-editor of Union Magazine and United Free Church Magazine. Professor of Church History, Theological College of United Presbyterian Church of Scotland, 1891-1901. Professor of Apologetics and Theology at Theological College of United Free Church Church, Glasgow, since 1901.
