Brodrick was educated in Dublin and Stonyhurst. He graduated Master of Arts from the University of London and was a contributor to periodicals such as The Tablet and The Month.

He joined the Jesuits in February 1910 at Manresa, London, and was ordained in 1923. Most of his working life was spent at Farm Street in London. Father Brodrick published several books
In 1935 there followed his biography of Saint Peter Canisius.
