Career
Lieutenant, 1890; Captain, 1898. Brevet Major, 1900; Major, 1902. Succeeded his mother in estates of Fairholm and Kirk ton.
Served with 6th Dragoons in Zulu War, and with Colonials and 6th Dragoons in Boer War.
Took part in Gibbon’s Expedition to Central Africa, 1898-1900. Justice of the Peace, Doctorate.L., Warden of the Game Reserve, North-east Transvaal.
Membership
Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. Clubs: Army and Navy, Cavalry, Ranelagh. New, Edinburgh.
