Then in 1984, James became a senior registrar at Royal Hallamshire Hospital. In 1987 he was appointed a consultant in accident and emergency medicine at Northern General Hospital.
Wardrope is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, British Association for Accident and Emergency Medicine and British Medical Association.
On March 31,1978 James Wardrope married Diana Jane Fothergill. They have two children.
