Studied at Saint Michael’s Schools, Chester Square, South-west. Privately. Was for three and a half years in Civil Service (Inland Revenue).
Became a clerk in weekly newspaper office, and taking interest in journalism generally, contributed constantly to various publications. Becoming early in life associated with some of the earliest temperance reformers and many leading politicians, has taken prominent part in temperance and political movements since 1874. Was Honourable Secretary of Labour Representation Union, founded 18S4, and of the Gladstone Election Fund (1886) at North.L.C., and acted as Honourable Election Agent for several candidates returned to Parliament and to the London County Council.
