(As the bloody carnage of World War II grinds to a halt in...)
As the bloody carnage of World War II grinds to a halt in 1945, Chiang Kai-shek, leader of the Chinese Nationalists, and Mao Tse-tung, chairman of the burgeoning Communist party, prepare for a full-scale civil war. A lone heroine, the beautiful and courageous Chen Jin-ling, pet-named Silk Tiger, rises up and attempts to bring peace to her country. Assisting her is Captain James Lansing, winner of the Distinguished Service Cross, whose love for Silk Tiger is all-consuming. The two convince Lansing's group commander, Colonel Thompson, to go with them on a dangerous journey to see Chou En-lai and Mao Tse-tung. It is decided at their meeting for Colonel Thompson and Captain Lansing to go back to the U.S.A. to see President Truman and bring General George Marshall to China to mediate peace. Proclaiming that she will never get married, Jin-ling is surprised at herself when she ends up falling for Lansing but is their relationship doomed like her previous one? Will her never-ending love for her mother country, China, supercede her love for Lansing? And will she be able to contribute to peace in China, like her parents fought for many years ago?
