James Boon Lankershim

Background

Lankershim, James Boon was born on March 24, 1850 in on farm near St. Louis. Son of Isaac and Annis Lydia (Moore) Lankershim.

Education

Family removed to California, 1854. Educational public schools San Francisco.

Career

Engaged in stock-raising and grain growing. Acquired 44,000 acres of land, and organized Los Angeles Farming & Milling Company. Erected the Lankershim office building, Los Angeles, 1898.

President Main Street Savings Bank, Los Angeles, 1886-1900. Owner Hotel Lankershim, Los Los Angeles Retired from active business, 1900. Was organizer, 1897, and captain Los Angeles Cavalry Troop.

Lieutenant-colonel on staff governor California, 1900.
