Resumed practice of law, 1864.
District attorney, Huntingdon Company, and company solicitor until March 1866. Practiced at Davenport, Iowa, 1866-1880.
Was assistant city solicitor and city solicitor, Davenport, and general attorney or counsel for various rys. Removed to New York, 1880, as counsel for Austin Corbin and associates in superintending legal work of reorganizing and consolidating rys. on Long Island.
Later chief counsel of financiers in acquiring control and reorganizing finances of Central Railroad Company of New Jersey Special counsel to president and management, 1887-1890, general solicitor and head legal department, October 1890-January 1, 1910, Philadelphia & Reading Railway Company.
