Spent 2 years on Pacific Coast and in Rocky Mountains as laborer, teamster, miner, etc. Foreman of bridge-building crews on various rys. in Texas. Engaged in farming in Bell County and now extensive land owner.
Admitted to Texas bar, 1897. Practiced in Belton, later in Temple, Texas. An organizer of Temple State Bank, 1907.
Candidate for government of Texas, on a business man’s platform, 1914. Nominated at primaries and elected governor for term, 1915, 1916.
