Ordained Presbyterian ministry, 1875. Founder, 1875, and pastor Hope Church, Philadelphia, until 1928, now pastor emeritus. Has received nearly 5,000 communicants and erected church properties costing $200,000, closing each year without debt.
Twice moderator Presbytery of Philadelphia.
Delegate General Assembly 10 times. Twice appointed to defend action of Synod of Pennsylvania in appeal cases to General Assembly.
Made opening prayer at Republican National Convention, 1900.
