Jordan, James Henry was born on December 21, 1842 in Woodstock, Virginia, United States. Son of Charles B. and Elizabeth R. Jordan.

Education

Removed to Indiana, 1853. Lived on farm until 1861. Served in 45th Indiana Volumes, 3d Indiana Cavalry through Civil War, participating in all important battles of Army of the Potomac.

Twice wounded in battle.

Bachelor of Science, Indiana University, 1868, Bachelor of Laws, 1871. Doctor of Laws, Wabash College, 1907.

Career

Admitted to bar, 1869. Prosecuting attorney, 1872. Member Republican State Central Committee, 1880-1886 (chairman 1882).

Judge Supreme Court of the Indiana, 3 terms, 1895-1913.

Trustee Indiana University, 1891-1895. Member National Arbitration and Peace Congress, 1907.
