Commissioned Second lieutenant, United States Army, 1933, and advanced through the grades to brigadier general, 1945. Stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, at time Japanese attack, 1941. Served in Guadacanal, New Georgia and Solomon Islands campaigns.
Landed Lingayen Gulf, Philippine Islands, January 1945, fought up to Balete Pass.
Killed by sniper fire, May 1945.
