Admitted to bar, 1869. Practiced at Londonderry, 1869-1882, Brattleboro, Vermont, from 1882. State’s attorney, 1874-1876.

Member Vermont House of Representatives, 1874-1882 and 1892 (speaker 1878-1882). Commissioner of state taxes, 1888, 1890, 1892, 1894. United State Attorneys for Vermont, 1898-1906.
