Hendrickson, James Lynn was born on April 11, 1942 in Springfield, Ohio, United States. Son of William Richard and Floryne Leona (Thompson) Hendrickson.


Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Ohio State University, 1965. M.Mil.Scis., United States Army Command and General Staff College, 1978.


Commissioned Second lieutenant United States Air Force, 1965, advanced through grades to colonel, 1984. Supply officer Bergstrom Air Force Base, Texas, 1965-1967. Navigator trainee, electronic warfare trainee Mather Air Force Base, California, 1967-1968.

Combat tour in Southeast Asia, Takhli AB, Thailand and Danang AB, 1969-1970. Wing electronic warfare officer, Danang and Homestead Air Force Base, Florida, 1970-1974. Tactical Air Command staff, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, 1974-1977.

Advisory to Imperial Iranian Air Force, 1978-1979. Tactical fighter wing chief of weapons and readiness, operations officer George Air Force Base, Victorville, California, 1979-1981, deputy Commander Cadets Composite Squadron 120, wing adviser Civil Air Patrol, 1979-1981.
