Studied at ScotchSchool, Buenos Ayres. Tutors in London; studied medicine in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and London. Bachelor of Medicine.
Master in Surgery.
After graduation at Aberdeen in 1882, became assistant to Professor of Surgery. Subsequently Lecturer on Ophthalmology to the University of Aberdeen, and Ophthalmic Surgeon to the Royal Infirmary, Royal Sick Children’s Hospital. Physician to Blind Asylum, etc.
Came to London, 1897, and then devoted attention to X-ray work. Invented a precise method of localisation by means of X-rays for foreign bodies m eye and orbit, and for bullets, etc. Also a mercury rotary break for coils.
Member of Royal Institution, Royal Photographic Society, Rdntgen Society. Fellow of Physical Society. University Aberdeen.; Consulting Surgeon to Rdntgen Ray Department, Charing Cross Hospital, and Surgeon in charge of X-ray Department of Royal London Oxdithalmic Hospital (Moorfields), and Seaman’s Hospital, Greenwich.
