Career

The Livingston side of the United States branch of the family signed the Declaration of Independence, helped to draft the Constitution, fought the English and contributed to the independence of the United States of America. The Dewar and MacEwan branches fought the English for centuries in Scotland and moved to Canada, Jamaica and Mexico in the late 19th Century-although they returned to the United Kingdom twice in the 20th to fight the two great wars on England"s behalf.
