Student Oberlin College, 1906-1907. Bachelor of Science, United States Military Academy, 1911 and second in command Lieutenant.

Career

Colonel United States Army). Advanced through the grades to brig. general, December 1941. Assumed command of 68th Armored Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia, August 3, 1940 and assigned to command 2d Armored Brigade April 14, 1941.

Transferred to Philippine Department, October 1941. And participated in the defense of the Philippine Islands during December 1941 and early months of 1942. On Bataan Peninsula when battlefield fell to Japanese, April 9, prisoner of war of Japanese government.

Released August 1945. Brigadier general, 1948.
