Career

Ranching, farming and teacher rural schools until 1888. Teacher Highland Park College until 1910. President Euclid Avenue State Bank, Des Moines (now director).

Treasurer Des Moines Morris Plan Company Speaker throughout United States and writer for better city government.

Member citizens committee securing passage of the commission plan law by louisiana legislature and adoption of the plan by Des Moines. Mayor of Des Moines, under commission form, 1910-1916.

Trustee Municipal Water Plant of Des Moines. Director Teachers Placement Division of the United States bureau of Education (getting war-time teachers and placing men from service back into teaching positions), 1918-1919.

Active in prohibition movement.

Progressive.
