Clerk, chief clerk, assistant cashier, National Bank of Commerce, New York City, 1885-1907. Treasurer American Express Company, 1907-1908. Returned to National Bank of Commerce as vice president, 1908, president, 1911-1923, later Chairman of the Board.

Then Chairman of the Board Guaranty Trust Company of New York. Retired 1929.

Membership

Member Federal Reserve Board (advisory committee), 1926-1928. Member New York Clearing House Committee, 1913-1916, 1919-1921 (Chairman of Commission on credit and finance. Member of New York Liberty Loan Committee from its organization, and of its subcommittee on money rates.

Member of advisory committee American section International Chamber Commerce. Member commission on finance and currency of Chamber of Commerce of State of New York Chevalier Legion of Honor (France).
