Rickey, James Walter was born on November 10, 1871 in Dayton, Ohio, United States. Son of James and Rosaltha Jane (Jones) Rickey.


General Electric, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 1894.


Began as accountant, N.P. Railway, Minneapolis, 1894. Principal assistant engineer Lake Superior Power Corporation, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, 1896-1897, St. Anthony Falls Water Power Company, and Minneapolis Mill Company, 1897-1907.

Chief hydraulic engineer Aluminum Company of America, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1907-1938, now construction engineering. Has designed and constructed large dams in the states of North Carolina, New York, Tennessee, also Chute a Caron Dam, 200 foot high, and 260,000 h.p. power-house, on Saguenay River, near Kenogami, Quebec (the first stage of one of the largest hydro-electric developments in the world), 1927-1930. Director Pittsburgh Branch, Pennsylvania Association for Blind.
