Career
He played in the National Basketball League for the Sheboygan Red Skins in 10 games during the 1946-1947 season. Dawson had played collegiately at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University between 1942 and 1946. As a senior in 1945-1946 he led the Aggies in scoring at 17.0 points per game and was named an all-Southwest Conference player.
After his brief professional career, Dawson moved to Longview, Texas in 1951 and established the Fredonia Animal Hospital where he served as a veterinarian until 1976.
