He attended Street Peter"s High School in Burnham.
Leaving school aged 16, Rickers joined the Colchester Institute School of Music and Drama, studying for his Music Foundation A-level He gained a Bachelor Honours Music degree in 1993. and at the age of 21, created, owned and was the Doctor of Medicine of The Universal Film Orchestra. Britain"s largest dedicated film orchestra.
Jamie has two sons with his ex-partner.
In 2000, Rickers joined GMTV. He co-produced, conceptualized and presented GMTV"s Sunday kids" show Up on the Roof until February 2005 when Toonattik was launched, with Rickers as co-host. On 6 March 2010, it was announced GMTV Kids presenters Jamie Rickers and Anna Williamson would be made redundant following Independent Television plc taking full control of GMTV, their last broadcast aired on 9 May 2010.
His challenge was due to start in early 2012 and finish with an appearance on ITV1"s Daybreak with Adrian Chiles and Kate Garraway. Sadly, £30k of funding was pulled by the network.
Jamie is also one of the presenters of a late night roulette programme on Independent Television for Jackpot247.com.
In 2016, he announced that he had started working at Volopa as a Sales Consultant (), Volopa is a specialised money transfer and Foreign Exchange organisation ().
In 2012, Rickers appealed to members of the public to support him with sponsorship as well as tip-offs about where celebrities might be.
