Career

He was the ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Germany, Kuwait, and France for 20 years. He served as the first ambassador in history of Kuwait. He brought the first television network to Saudi Arabia.

Al-Hejailan was a career diplomat. He was appointed secretary general of the GCC, in April 1996, replacing Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi. His tenure lasted until 31 March 2002.
