Jane Eldora Abrams was born on January 2, 1940, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, United States.

Career

Jane Abrams has lived and worked in Los Ranchos Village in the north valley near Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the past forty years. Her travels to Mexico, Central America, Spain, and Asia have introduced exotic subjects into her pulsing, colorful canvases.

Jane Abrams is Regents’ Professor Emeritus from the University of New Mexico where she taught painting and drawing from 1971 until 1993. She continues to exhibit her work and paint in her studio in Los Ranchos, New Mexico.

Achievements

• Jane Abrams has received many prestigious awards including two Senior National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowship Grants, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award, and the John Anson Kittredge Foundation Educational Award.
  
  Jane Abrams has received numerous guest artist invitations over the past 25 years. She has been the recipient of recent residencies from the Everglades National Park in Southern Florida in 2013; the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2007; the Julia and David White Artists’ Colony in Cuidad Colon, Costa Rica, in 2002; the Robert M. MacNamara Foundation in Westport Island, Maine, in 2005; and in 2006 the residency at the Fundacion Valparaiso in Mojacar, Spain.
