Beyda studied sculpture and painting at Cooper Union School of Art (1934-38) and sculpture at the Art Students League (1938-41), both in New York City. She also studied sculpture on scholarship at Fontainebleau (France) School of Art in the summer of 1938.
Beyda has been in partnership with her photographer husband, Frank Beyda, since 1956, and previously was a freelance sculptor and painter. She belongs to ASMP (since 1979) and ANPPM (French advertising and fashion photographers, since 1961).
Since 1974 Beyda has used a "complicated technique of double exposure with graded masking" to record images "such as one sees in dreams and which people one's subconscious mind."
