Janet Majure was born on November 22, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas, United States. She was the daughter of Oliver Davis Majure, an artist, and Betty Lou (Tucker) Majure.

Education

Janet Majure received from the University of Kansas her Bachelor of Science in 1976, then a Master of Business Administration in 1981, and a Master of Arts in 2001.

Career

Janet Majure worked as a copy editor at Arizona Daily Star in Tucson in 1976. She then became a copy editor at Denver Post in Denver, Colorado in 1976-1978 and at the Arizona Republic in Phoenix in 1978-1979.

Majure worked as a financial analyst at W. R. Grace in Memphis, Tennessee during 1981-1982. In addition, she worked at Kansas City Star in Kansas City, Montana from 1983 to 1989, where she began as a copy editor, then became a bureau chief, later an assistant city editor, and business writer.

In 1989 Janet Majure was an owner, publisher, and editor at Lawrence Observer in Lawrence, Kansas. Since 1990 she has been a freelance writer and editor. She has authored such works as "Elections" (1996), "Recipes Worth Sharing" (1997), "AIDS" (1998), and "Not by Bread Alone" (2007), among others.
