Janet Tripp

Background

Janet Tripp was born on November 26, 1942, in Lake City, Minnesota, United States to Sumner Richard Lombard, a machinist, and Arline (maiden name, Leverstrom; present surname, Schmidt) Lombard, a teacher.

Education

Janet graduated from Macalester College, Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She also graduated from University of Minnesota with Bachelor's degree in 1992.

Career

Janet served as a pediatric nurse at University of Minnesota -Twin Cities, Minneapolis, in university hospital; Metropolitan Medical Center. She later served as a psychiatric nurse in Minneapolis, Hennepin County Medical Center. Her work as a psychiatric nurse is fed by all her interests: journaling, biography, spirituality, and healing.

Her writing career began with ‘Dear Diary' at age fifteen.

She was an editor and staff writer at Hurricane Alice: A Feminist Quarterly from 1984 to 1990 and was an intern at Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society from 1991 to 1992.

Janet works as a parish nurse for a local church and as a writing teacher.
