This whole book is composed of entrancing rhymes. The first few pages are laid out like this example: "This is a dragon. This is a wagon. This is a dragon in a wagon.". The first two sentences are at the top of the page accompanied by smaller, black-and-white versions of the main pic on the same page, which is in color and shows the dragon in the wagon, along with the corresponding sentence. The book continues on with short rhyming sentences, and then there are several pages of rhyming questions (e.g."How many kittens lost their mittens?"). The last page is adorable- you can see a tiny, scaled-down version of the this book on the night table between two beds containing children...it reads: "And what do we do when a book is read? That's right, dear children, we go to bed.". The illustrations are simple and charming with a touch of silliness, and definitely have a vintage feel to them. I am terrible at trying to describe in reviews the type of art contained within a book; hopefully one can decide if this book is for their child/ren by viewing the above cover.
