epic poet
Meditative by nature, Arany created a popular, simple, story-telling art, joining to the folksong the artistic finish of polished verse. His work is characterized by perfection of form, depth of thought and feeling, and love of country. Some of his poems have been translated into German and English; Arany's own translations from Goethe, Tasso, Shakespeare, and Aristophanes are outstanding.
