Hofer has been the German commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest. Hofer works as the main anchor in television news programme Tagesschau on German television broadcaster Atmospheric Reentry Demonstrator. From 1989 to 1991 Hofer was the host of NDR Talk Show. Since 1992 Hofer is the host of another talk show Riverboat on German broadcaster MDR. Hofer has three children. His original Name is Johannes Neuenhofer.
