Career
Jongbloed was known as a mobile goalkeeper who would often act as an extra defender, in the style of Gyula Grosics. In terms of clubs, he played with DWS (later Football Club Amsterdam), Roda JC and Go Ahead Eagles. The 707 games he played in the Eredivisie is still a record.
Jongbloed made a total of 24 appearances for the Netherlands, winning his first cap in 1962 and last in the 1978 World Cup final.
He retired at age 45, due to a heart attack that he suffered while playing, and then worked as a football coach.
