(The 10th Symposium on Industrial Crystallization was orga...)
The 10th Symposium on Industrial Crystallization was organized as an event of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering. This volume contains the full texts of both the invited and poster papers which address: - theoretical fundamentals of crystallization - effect of individual factors on crystallization - modelling of crystallization and design of crystallizers - experience in industrial crystallization. The large number of participants represented more than 20 different countries and included top specialists in the field of industrial crystallization. These proceedings thus reflect the current status of fundamental and applied research work world-wide and represent a valuable source of interesting and up-to-date information.

(The author surveys and critically evaluates the state of ...)
The author surveys and critically evaluates the state of knowledge concerning industrial crystallization with the aim of providing the information needed to properly purchase and operate crystallizers. He describes the modes of crystallization, the types of crystallizers, their potentials, performance and limits, and leads from there to the criteria by which a suitable crystallizer is selected. The author has been active in the field for more than twenty years and can convincingly explain the close relationship between the fundamentals of crystallization, laboratory data, and the design of production units.
