Jason Elliot was born on February 27, 1965.
Jason published his first book, "An Unexpected Light: Travels in Afghanistan", in 1999. This work represents an account of his experiences during two extended periods in the war-torn region of Asia. When he was only nineteen years old, Elliot first came to Afghanistan and joined Mujahedin forces, fighting in opposition to invading Russian troops. Ten years later, Elliot returned to Afghanistan to absorb the native culture during a time of civil war. In each of his stints in the turbulent region, Elliot underwent trying experiences. He even traveled with guerilla fighters and slept among them in mountain shelters. He also socialized with war correspondents, who regularly bolted from safety to report on violent activities. Elliot's book includes details on the history of the region, as well as information, concerning its culture and religion.
Elliot's book, "Mirrors of the Unseen: Journeys in Iran", published in 2006, covered his travels through Iran. In 2010, he published his first novel, entitled "The Network". It tells the story of a divorced landscaper and former British soldier, who is brought into a ring of people from his country's military, diplomatic and espionage services to manage geopolitical issues, that they believe their government is ineffective at managing. He is tasked to find a friend, who needs rescuing after having been a mole for Al-Qaeda for ten years, and also to destroy an arsenal of Stinger missiles, hidden away in Afghanistan.
His other works include "Religions Of The World" (1996) and "The Madhouse: A Fantasy Corresponding To Truth" (2019).
Currently, Jason lives and works in London, United Kingdom.
