He began his career as one of the leads of the National Broadcasting Company show California Dreams in which he played Jake Sommers, the tough, leather-clad lead guitarist of the show"s titular rock group. He is a musician who played his own guitar during the musical scenes on the show. He has studied ballet and he writes.
Franke is a quality assurance engineer
In addition to the role in California Dreams, he has acted on General Hospital, Married.. with Children and the 1991 television movie Earth Angel. In early 2016 Tracey and Jay announced that they are expecting twins.
On March 4, 2010, Franke and the rest of the California Dreams cast reunited on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
