He read at Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris in marketing from 1965 to 1968, earned an Master of Business Administration in marketing from Laval University in 1969 and a Doctor of Philosophy in sociology from the University of Montréal in 1976.
He holds the ECSC Research Chair of Retailing at Higher Education Commission Montréal. Early life and education His dissertation was titled "Family decision making processes and social classes: a systemic approach". Chebat is on the board of several top journals, such as Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Research, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
He is the Associate Editor of Perceptual & Motor Skills and Psychological Reports.
Chebat is married to Claire Gélinas-Chebat, a professor of linguistics at the Université du Québec.
