Career
He was re-elected in 1957, 1958, 1962, and 1963. He was Minister of Public Works from 1963 to 1965. In 1966, he was appointed to the Senate representing the senatorial division of Lauzon, Quebec.
He resigned in January 1986.
He was the Speaker of the Canadian Senate from 1968 to 1972.
