His usual position is flanker or number eight and he currently plays for Italian Pro12 club Zebre. Cook started out his career with the Free State Cheetahs, however he only made one senior appearance for them before switching to the Blue Bulls in 2012. He returned to the Cheetahs for the 2014 Super Rugby season.
He was included in the Cheetahs squad for the 2014 season and made his debut in a 21–20 defeat to the Lions in Bloemfontein.
