Background
The son of John Robert Woods and Zoé Desautels, he studied medicine at McGill University, graduating in 1875.

In 1885, he was named a public vaccinator and the medical officer by the Aylmer Board of Health. In 1918, he was named inspector of prisons and asylums for Quebec, at which point, he moved to Lachine. He died in Lachine in 1928.
