Language pathologist Wichita Public School. Member Unified School District Board Education, 1989—2000, president, 1993, 1997, 1999. Member District 25 Kansas State Senate, since 2001, assistant majority whip, chair joint committee on arts and cultural resources, education committee, vice chair joint committee on legislation educational planning, member business and labor committee, commerce committee, confirmation oversight committee, interstate cooperation committee, judiciary committee, ways and means committee.
