Career
Coogan began her career as an editorial assistant of Ladies` Home Journal in 1947 and had held it for five years. In 1979 she became editor-in-chief of Nursing Magazine. Also from 1984 she served as a vice president of editorial affairs at Springhouse Corporation.

Coogan was a member of American Society of Magazine Editors, Educational Press Association and American Business Press.
