Jeff got his B.A. at Victoria, David Thompson University Centre, and M.A., Ph.D. at Calgary.
Dr. Derksen joined SFU in 2003 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and went on to become Professor of English and Associate Member in the Department of Geography. He has previously served as Graduate Chair in the Department of English (2013 - 2015), Associate Dean of Graduate Studies (2016), and has served as Dean and Associate Provost pro tem, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies since September 1, 2017. Dr. Derksen's research and teaching interests include issues of culture, space, politics, contemporary poetics, art, and housing.
Dr. Jeff Derksen has accepted appointment as Dean and Associate Provost, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies beginning February 1, 2018 for a five-year term.
