Maynor graduated from Champion High School. Also he studied at E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University from 1962 to 1965.
Maynor served in the United States Army, before beginning his career on WBBW radio in Youngstown. Then in 1971, he became a reporter and anchor at WJW-TV. Nine years later he took a position of a co-anchor at WEWS-TV alongside Ted Henry. Also Jeff served as PR director at Lakeland Community College from 1988 to 1991.
In 1993, Maynor was appointed an anchor at WKYC-TV, where he worked until his retirement in 2011. He also hosted several interview specials for the network. One of the earliest ones Jeff did came in 1993 with the late Tim Conway.
Maynor was a polished anchor that was never afraid to roll up his sleeves, go out and get the story between newscasts. He was also known for quick wit and ability to engage with the viewers.
Maynor loved old movies and early rock and roll, especially Buddy Holly.
