Jennifer Hayward was born on December 22, 1961 in Boston, Suffolk Country, Massachusetts, United States. She is the daughter of John Henry and Judith (Poole) Hayward.

Education

In 1983 Jennifer Poole Hayward received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Wesleyan University. In 1987 she obtained a Master of Arts degree from the San Francisco State University. In 1992 Hayward received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Princeton University.

Career

Jennifer Poole Hayward was a high school teacher and developer of creative writing program from 1983 to 1986. In 1992 she was appointed an associate professor of English at the College of Wooster. From 1994 to 1996 Hayward was a judge of New Writers Awards at the Great Lakes College Association.
