Şebnem has studied ballet, and enjoys horseriding. Then, she attended the contest "Ford Models Super Model Of The World" and came out on the top.
She has been modeling since she was fifteen, commuting between career engagements in Germany and Turkey, at the same time as pursuing her studies in Goethe University in her hometown. She later switched to anthropology and European ethnology. Jennifer Şebnem Schäfer was discovered in the year 2000 when she went to Turkey for a holiday.
