Career
He was the youngest ever leader of the NUJ and only the second to serve two terms. Prior to his election he was a National Organiser for the union. He also led a 11-month strike at the Essex Chronicle against de-recognition of the NUJ. He has a reputation as one of the Awkward Squad of left-wing trade unionists.
