He was ordained a priest in 1950 and as of 1990 was still working in this capacity in Cork. In 1995 he was removed from his job as Parish Priest of Aughadown by Bishop Michael Murphy after allegations of sexual abuse of altar boys came to light., no complaints were made to the Gardai. He Published Swallows in December in 2006 and The Moon Canoe in 2010.
