He is currently the Vice President of Blockchain Technologies, a new business unit within the International Business Machines Corporation Cloud Group. In his new role, Jerry is leading the definition of International Business Machines Corporation’s Blockchain strategy, offerings and customer engagement methodology. Holding the title of International Business Machines Corporation Fellow, he is one of the founding fathers of International Business Machines Corporation WebSphere Software.
At International Business Machines Corporation, Cuomo has led projects in the areas of API Economy, Mobile computing, Cloud computing, Web Application Servers, Java, TCP/Intellectual Property, real-time collaboration software, and high-performance transactional systems
Cuomo currently has filed for over 50 United States patents for International Business Machines Corporation. Jerry continues to be a visible spokesperson for International Business Machines Corporation in emerging business and technology areas. Cuomo spent the first 9 years of his career working on advanced technology software at the International Business Machines Corporation Thomas J. Watson Research Center in New New York
Cuomo served as the WebSphere"s Chief Technology Officer between 2006-2015 at International Business Machines Corporation in Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. During this time, Jerry provided technical direction to the WebSphere portfolio, extending to new areas including Mobile and Cloud.
Cuomo has been part of the WebSphere Application Server engineering team from its inception in 1997.
As an engineer on the WebSphere project, Cuomo has been involved in Web Server Performance, High Availability, Dynamic Caching, Edge Serving, Web Security. SOA, Web 2.0 and RESTful SOA via Project Zero, Appliances, Event Driven Architecture, Open Development, and Virtualization. In recent years Cuomo has been providing direction on International Business Machines Corporation"s strategy and product capabilities related to emerging technology areas including blockchain, mobile and cloud computing.
Today, Cuomo is leading the International Business Machines Corporation Blockchain initiative.
Including collaboration with the Linux HyperLedger Project, bringing blockchain to the cloud and helping users apply blockchain to their industry. Cuomo has been involved in defining the key attributes of International Business Machines Corporation"s API strategy, cloud computing strategy, defining International Business Machines Corporation"s Platform-as-a-service strategy, approaches for measuring cloud performance, mobile computing and engaging enterprise strategy, mobile development with JavaScript-based technologies and International Business Machines Corporation"s Internet of Things strategy.
Cuomo has also been vocal about the positive impact the "mobile generation" will have on our society.
