Jerzy Limon was born on May 24, 1950 in Malbork, Poland, in the family of Zenon and Wanda (Gierasimowicz) Limon.
Jerzy is a graduate of the 1st High School in Sopot and the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan. Then he obtained the doctoral and postdoctoral degrees. On January 20, 1993, he received the title of professor of humanities.
As an academic lecturer related to the University of Gdańsk, he became the head of the Department of the History of British Literature and Culture at the University of Gdańsk. He teaches in Polish and English.
Jerzy is the author of about 10 books, as well as about 80 articles and reviews, printed in Poland, Great Britain ("Shakespeare Survey"), Germany and the United States ("Shakespeare Quarterly"). He prepared 120 entries to the Great PWN Universal Encyclopedia.
As a founder, Jerzy co-founded and took over the role of president of the Theatrum Gedanense Foundation, working for the rebuilding of the Shakespearean Theater in Gdańsk and organizing the annual theatrical Shakespeare Festival. He is also the co-founder of the Sopocki Forum for the Integration of Science, Culture and Art "Sfinks". He collaborated with the literary magazine " Migotania, świeśnienia".

On April 8, 1985, Jerzy married Justyna Marcinkiewicz, an English teacher, they have two children - Tomasz and Julia.
