Conductor, Danish Royal Opera, Copenhagen 1965-1968. Principal Conductor Italian Radio and television Orchestra (Radiotelevisione Italiana), Rome 1969-1973. Musical Director and Principal Conductor Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra since 1975.

Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, New York since 1986.
