Achievements include introduction of meta-analysis to fields of ecology and evolution; research on experimental investigation of the role of competition in structuring plant communities and determining species distributions, on the genetics, physiological ecology and morphometrics of leaves with complex shapes, on the application of statistical methods to ecological problems.
